The deputy to the Cuban Parliament José Ramón Machado Ventura spoke this Wednesday with the highest political and governmental authorities of Guantanamo, about the situation of the reservoirs in the eastern territory, after the intense rains that hit several towns a few days ago.

During his stay in Guantanamo City, he verified that the dams are constantly monitored, with emphasis on the Faustino Pérez, located to the north of the main city, which supplies 75 percent of its inhabitants and today exceeds 94 percent of its filling capacity with more than 24 million cubic meters of water, a volume that had not reached more than seven years ago.

Machado Ventura insisted on the attention to the reservoirs in the midst of extreme weather events, the system of operations of the reservoirs and the security measures that are adopted to avoid damage to the population downstream of the dam that discharges its water.

He also exchanged with the leadership of the Municipal Assembly of the People’s Power of Guantanamo, a territory that he represents in the Cuban Parliament for the tenth consecutive years.

The also Commander of the Rebel Army was also informed about the construction of a pedestrian level crossing over the Guaso River to connect the historic center of the provincial capital with the Ciudad Deportiva (Sport Area), located in the San Justo neighborhood, and learned that its construction is advancing in despite the impact of recent rains.
