Cuban Medical Solidarity Reaches the Islamic Republic of Mauritania
Mardey Méndez, a young specialist from Maisí, has shared his knowledge, dedication, and compassion in different parts of the world, including Venezuela and Brazil, and for the past two years in the distant Islamic Republic of Mauritania—a country with customs and traditions very different from those of his homeland.
There, he carries out the noble mission of saving lives. Yet a part of his heart remains in Maisí, alongside the family that shaped his values, especially his grandparents.
His paternal grandfather, now more than 100 years old, proudly speaks of his grandson and eagerly awaits the embrace that, like the best medicine, brings healing to the soul.

Nurturing Dreams in the Mountains

At the Florecitas de las Montañas (Little Flowers of the Mountains) daycare center, located in the community of Los Arados in the municipality of Maisí, Omar Cantillo Lobaina finds his purpose in nurturing love, happiness, and hope in every child.
He carries out his work with passion, dedication, and great care.
