Guantánamo.- The March 13th University Guerrilla Group, made up of students who are member of the University Student Federation (FEU) at the Guantánamo University of Medical Sciences (UCMGT), was activated this Monday in the developing La Caoba neighborhood, located east of the provincial capital, in support of community outreach.
In this vulnerable district and others such as Pastorita, Polvo en el Viento, Primero de Mayo, and Casa de Piedra, students of Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and other medical specialties will carry out actions to prevent drug use and conduct research in support of the Mother and Child Health Program (PAMI).
Silvio Eneider Cuevas de la Cruz, president of the FEU (Federal University of Catalonia) at the UCMGT (University of Madrid), reported that the university guerrillas are donating part of their vacation time to support the refurbishment of the Student Housing and teaching rooms at the UCMGT. They are also mobilized to plant sugarcane.
The activation of the March 13th Guerrilla Group is an essential part of the comprehensive system that should characterize medical students, who are involved in useful tasks that have an economic and social impact during their studies.
