Guantánamo.- The Intermediate Care Unit at Doctor Agostinho Neto Provincial Hospital is strengthening medical education after three of its physicians demonstrated the pedagogical and clinical expertise required to attain the rank of Instructor Professor.
Dr. Roberto Henry Knight, the unit’s coordinator, reported that the academic assessment—conducted before a panel of highly experienced specialists—included a lecture on post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis and clinical rounds focused on patient assessment techniques. Twelve third-year medical students, nephrology residents, and nursing staff participated in the exercise.
He also noted that all healthcare professionals were assessed on their knowledge of current resolutions issued by the Ministry of Higher Education, as well as on their digital competencies and ability to use information and communications technologies effectively in medical education.
Dr. Roberto Henry Knight, who holds a master’s degree in medical emergencies and is a second-degree specialist in internal medicine, also praised the work of the evaluation panel. Composed of assistant and consulting professors, first- and second-degree specialists, and holders of Master of Science degrees, the panel helped ensure the quality and rigor of the process.
