Guantanamo.- Six initiatives from Guantánamo Province have been selected to receive financial support through the project “Support for New Economic Actors for Innovative and Sustainable Economic Diversification” (NAE), according to an announcement by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on July 1, 2026.
The selected projects, covering the agri-food, renewable energy, and information and communication technology (ICT) sectors, were chosen from 393 proposals submitted nationwide.
In the agri-food sector, three initiatives from Guantánamo were selected:
Vel & Patt, a private MSME dedicated to the processing of fishery products.
Oliverfe, focused on the production of fruit and vegetable preserves.
Celiacos PDL, a local development project dedicated to manufacturing food products for people with celiac disease.
In the renewable energy sector, the approved initiatives include:
InnovaSolar, a state-owned MSME providing local services related to renewable energy solutions.
Tec@ribe, a private MSME specializing in intelligent energy backup systems.
La Exclusiva, a non-agricultural cooperative (CNA) that will introduce renewable energy solutions into its food service operations.
These six initiatives add to the four projects from Guantánamo previously selected during the first NAE call for proposals in the eastern region, launched on October 3, 2025.
Those projects included the local development initiative “Maguana: Comprehensive Municipal Development Center for Productive Linkages of Exportable Goods and Academic Exchange,” the company Jaldas S.R.L., the “Nutritional Support for Celiac Patients” project, and Producciones DAISSON (PRODAISS) S.R.L.
Funded by the European Union and implemented by the UNDP in cooperation with French Cooperation and the Ministry of Economy and Planning, the NAE project has contributed to strengthening the business ecosystem in eastern Cuba, with new economic actors from Guantánamo playing an increasingly significant role.
