Guantanamo.- The activities for the 45th anniversary of Popular Camping Site will be dedicated to the centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro, creator of this form of healthy recreation, where people are in touch with nature.
In the province, the main celebration will take place at the Playita de Cajobabo campsite on the 16th, the date commemorating the founding of this popular tourist product, Daniuska Durruthy, director of the Camping Agency in Guantánamo Province, told Venceremos.
Playita de Cajobabo, the territory’s flagship facility visited by the Commander-in-Chief, is preparing for the commemoration with a program of repairs and beautification that includes landscaping the premises and installing lighting.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, maintenance work is also being carried out at the other campsites in the province (Yacabo Abajo, El Yunque, and Duaba), and excursions, visits to historical sites, and a bonfire are planned for the 15th and 16th at Playita de Cajobabo, added Surey Tamayo, the agency’s sales specialist.
She explained that the four campsites in the province have a combined capacity of 496 and that service is available 365 days a year. She pointed out that due to the ongoing fuel and transportation shortages, visitors are still responsible for their own transportation.
With the coming of May, when high summer season begins and the greatest number of visitors are welcome at the campsites, especially young people who take a break from school or work and starting their vacations.
