Guantanamo.- The Tax Declaration and Payment of Taxes Campaign has successfully concluded in the Guantanamo Province, achieving 99 percent completion, according to the National Tax Attention Office (ONAT) in the province.
A total of 10,287 taxpayers submitted their Sworn Declarations on time, with only 98 outstanding. All municipalities and the agricultural sector fully complied with the process, including Caimanera, which was the first municipality nationwide to accomplish this task. The only lagging region was Imías Municipality, which completed the process at 82.1 percent.
“This result is possible due to the dedication of ONAT workers and the commitment of taxpayers to contributing to the state budget, which supports public services and social programs,” stated Pilar Rivera Mallet, head of the Taxpayer Assistance Department of ONAT in the province.
Taxpayers who failed to submit the Sworn Declaration will face measures imposed by the Tax Administration. Sanctions include substantial fines, bank account embargoes, migration restrictions, and requests for temporary or permanent closure of establishments. Additionally, the defaulters will be required to present their Sworn Declarations.
The primary objective of the campaign is to ensure the collection of revenues for the State Budget to finance public services and social programs.
