Guantanamo.- Oscar Manuel Silveira Martínez, Minister of Justice in Cuba, called for improving the quality of the services offered to the population by recognizing that Guantánamo has highly qualified professionals to achieve this purpose efficiently.
It was revealed during the annual report of the Provincial Directorate of Justice, in which the satisfactory linking of second and third year students of the Law degree at the University of Guantánamo in their working practices was also recognized, a way to prepare future professionals who will face the challenges of exercising the profession in the territory.
In addition, it was learned that the Provincial Directorate of Justice signed cooperation agreements with different organizations during 2024 with the purpose of strengthening working ties and providing advisory service to the population and satisfying their concerns.
In order to strengthen inter-institutional coordination, meetings were held at the Provincial Office of Territorial Planning and Urbanism, the Provincial Housing Directorate, as well as with the Credit and Commerce Bank and other institutions, to align interests and optimize the functioning of the judicial system in Guantánamo.
However, the sector also faced challenges that require attention, such as legal advice on the different productive forms for better management of them, in addition to issues related to the effects presented by the sector’s institutions in the municipalities affected by Hurricane Oscar.
The Minister of Justice Oscar Manuel Silvera Martínez congratulated all the workers and managers for demonstrating that despite being a year marked by changes in management and new legislation, the group obtained good results and urged them to maintain their commitment and continue forming partnerships to improve the judicial system.
During the balance meeting of the Provincial Directorate of Justice in Guantánamo, the participants discussed the work projections for the year 2025, including the implementation of new technologies for the digital transformation of processes in order to improve the services offered, the strengthening of staff training and the continuity in the link with the educational sector to ensure the comprehensive training of future lawyers.
At the meeting, Yolanda Moreira Urgellés was distinguished for the fulfillment of the tasks assigned, for her dedication to productive work, as well as institutions and organizations that maintained a working and cooperation link with the Provincial Directorate of Justice were recognized, including the Provincial Directorate of Collective Law Firms, the Provincial Directorate of the Computer and Electronics Youth Clubs and the Provincial Directorate of the Union of Jurists in the province.
