Guantanamo.- The cultural gala commemorating the 89th anniversary of provincial radio station CMKS was held on June 27, marked by heartfelt tributes and celebrations.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the “Voice of Sympathy” award to sound engineer Guido Rosgad Beltrán, loyal listener Jackson Mena, and posthumously to the esteemed radio broadcasting legend Marlene Salazar Salazar, rewarded with the National Radio Award.
In addition to these honors, the gala recognized the 14 outstanding winners of the 2026 Provincial Radio Festival, a testament to the remarkable talent across the province’s five radio stations. These awards celebrated dedication, creativity, and excellence in radio broadcasting.
The occasion also served as the official launch of the campaign for CMKS’s upcoming 90th anniversary, aptly themed “Radio Anti-Imperialist Trench.” The station’s staff reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to the Revolution, embracing integrity and creativity while continuing their passionate work for 24 hours a day.
Distinguished guests included Lídice Fraga, head of the ideological department of the Provincial Party Committee; Taimí Fernández Pérez, president of the Cuban Journalists Association in Guantánamo; Adriel Oscar Hodelin Moya, provincial director of the radio station; and Yisel Román Arcia, director of CMKS, all of whom praised the station’s enduring legacy and vital role within the community.
