After several days of intense rainfalls, the benefits for Guantánamo reservoirs are visible, although not enough for the total recovery from a drought for over a year in the Cuban eastern territory.
Seven days ago, the province’s dams stored 24 percent of water and today they register over 37, receiving more than 45 million cubic meters, which enables improvements in services to both the population and to the system of agriculture and other clients.
The management department of the Provincial Delegation for Water Resources said that the Faustino Perez dam was mostly favoured with the runoffs, reaching 92 percent of its capacity and exceeding 24 million cubic meters, a guarantee of water supply for the
majority of the Guantanamo city´s inhabitants.
The rest of the supply sources received minor benefits and will depend on further rains in the so-called wet period.
