Guantánamo – The most recent presentation of the Robo Craft Innova 2026 project is aimed at promoting science, technology, and computer science in the Cuban easternmost region, in which children play a leading role.

Developed in the context of the commemorations of the 173rd anniversary of the birth of José Martí – a passionate advocate for the most revolutionary technical innovations of his time – “Robo Craft brought together primary and secondary school students, as well as technical school students, with an interest in electronics and its applications in everyday life,” according to Nayira Lara Cristo, Deputy Director of Institutional Communication at the Provincial Directorate of Young Computer and Electronic Clubs.

“Robo Craft”, an original idea of the self-employed worker Orlando (Lachi) Hernández Cantalapiedra and teacher Mirelda Pérez Bueno, who sought to bring together children and teenagers from Guantánamo on a platform for exchanging empirical knowledge developed by talented young people and sharing best educational practices in science and technology fields.

Sponsored by the Provincial Directorate of Education, the University of Guantánamo, and the Youth Computer Clubs, the initiative is designed as an interactive knowledge festival. Its first edition welcomed members of the Robotizing Hope project from the province of Santiago de Cuba.
