The first of thirty solar pumps for water supply, which must be set in Guantanamo as part of the energy matrix change program being carried out in the country, is virtually ready to provide services in the community of Rancho Grande, Costa Rica, in the municipality of El Salvador.

Lexis Suárez Ramírez, director of the Provincial Branch of Water Resources, said that the equipment, which works automatically and exclusively through solar energy, will soon benefit 149 homes and a population over 300 inhabitants with six liters per second.

Suárez Ramírez also said that all municipalities will benefited with these equipment, and among the most favored he mentioned Baracoa, where five should be installed, and highlighted the advantage of not depending on the electricity supply to guarantee water supply.

Also, the workers who will directly participate in the assembly of these pumping systems were trained. They must be very careful, since they are sophisticated, automated equipment with the capacity to be operated remotely.
