Summer time in GuantanamoThe 2023 summer stage officially began this Saturday, July 1 in Guantanamo with recreational activities throughout the province, with its focal point in the Pedro Agustín Pérez Plaza, where a great sports-recreational and cultural festival took place.

The opening ceremony was attended by Rafael Pérez Fernández, member of the Central Committee of the Party and highest political authority in the province of Guantánamo, and Alis Azahares Torreblanca, governor of the province, accompanied by other political and government cadres and leaders of social and mass organizations.

The Summer with Love, the motto of the current summer time, takes place in the neighborhoods and hard-to-reach communities of all the municipalities of the province, with varied cultural and sports activities for the enjoyment of the population, which includes performance of cultural traditions, link with nature, attention to rural areas and vulnerable communities.

The fundamental dates of celebration in July will be on Children’s Day, the third Sunday, and on the 25th, 26th and 27th, activities for the Day of National Rebellion; while in August, on the 12th, International Youth Day, on the 13th, the 97th birthday of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, the Fiesta de las Aguas for the 512th anniversary of Baracoa, from the 16th to the 19th the Festival of San Joaquín, and on the 23rd, founding day of the Federation of Cuban Women.

In the sports sector, 699 recreational spaces and 61 swimming areas will be activated, with three swimming pools, 17 beaches and 41 rivers. They include sports championships, the A Jugar program, the activation of the provincial project For a healthier life, and the all actions carried out by teachers of Physical Education and Recreation in the neigborhoods.
