Guantanamo.- A declaration of principles and support for the government and the Revolution, as well as a denunciation of the economic and political blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba, took place at the Arroyo Hondo Production Center, with the support of workers from different sectors of society.

Julio Ángel Maceo Cos, a member of the Federation of Secondary School Students, emphasized the significance of the Cuban victory at Playa Girón 65 years ago against the mercenary invasion, and affirmed that today’s youth remain firm in their principles of defending the Homeland, the Revolution, and the achievements of socialism.

Those attending the ceremony included Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Party in Guantánamo; Alis Azahares Torreblanca, Governor; Sailin Frómeta Tito, First Secretary of the Young Communists League; Yairis Fernández Castellanos, Secretary of the Federation of Cuban Women; as well as representatives of other mass organizations and the general public.

The event, which concluded with participants signing a pledge of support for the Homeland, registered over one hundred people who affirmed their commitment to defending the principles of the Revolution. It also served as a call to action for the May Day parade on International Workers’ Day, under the slogan “The Homeland Defends Itself.”

The activities that culminated in this act of revolutionary reaffirmation began with the second volunteer work project of the year at the “El Paraíso” farm, following the food sovereignty program.
