Guantanamo.- The Sur Hospital Neigborhood team triumphed in the “La Octava” category, the inaugural event of the 12th “Clásico del Guaso” Domino Tournament, which commenced on September 23 in Guantánamo.
This format requires players to engage in five individual matches, five with their regular partner, and an additional five with different partners.
Throughout the 15 rounds of intense competition, the Sur Hospital team faced off against squads from the San Justo and Santa María Neigborhood , as well as a team from the Dominican Republic. Ultimately, they emerged victorious with an impressive record of 70 wins and 50 losses, securing the top position ahead of San Justo, the Dominican Republic, and Santa María.
The pairs competition kicked off on Wednesday and continue until the end on Sunday, September 27. In this phase, each duo is set to play 21 matches. A total of 57 players are participating in the “Clásico”, including seven from the Dominican Republic, which will host the World Championship organized by FEMUNDO (World Domino Federation) from October 27 to 31.
Notably, several local players, such as Olvis Rodríguez, Maikel Tabío, Yunior Esteban, and Amaury Londres, are among those competing in this event, having qualified for the upcoming global tournament.
