The Provincial Scientific Societies Event was held at the Captain Asdrúbal López Vázquez Polytechnic Institute of Economics in Guantánamo. The objective was to demonstrate students’ technical and scientific skills through initiatives based on the knowledge acquired during their training.

Twenty specialties from the Polytechnic Institutes of the municipalities of Guantánamo, Caimanera, and Manuel Tames participated in the event, having been selected in previous events at the school and municipal levels.

Among the specialties, beauty services, gastronomy, animal husbandry and veterinary science, textile manufacturing, construction, hotel accommodation, and law stood out. All of these participants presented projects that prepare students to face the challenges of the future workforce with a solid technical and professional training.

Lisett Barnes Alá, head of the Provincial Directorate of Technical and Vocational Education department, highlighted the importance of these types of activities in the teaching-learning process. She emphasized that they not only contribute to the scientific and professional development of young people but also foster values ​​and teamwork.

The event was structured around two evaluation committees that determined the winners based on the scientific rigor, professional skills, and justification of the activities presented.

The Manuel Tames Agricultural Polytechnic Institute was awards for Animal Feed Presentation, Preparation, and Preservation; Beauty Services from the Emma Rosa Chuig Arnaud Polytechnic; and the Scientific Society of the Electronics Specialty with My Renewable Energy Project, from the José Maceo Industrial Polytechnic Institute, won first place and will represent the province at the national event that will take place at the regional level in Granma.
