Guantanamo.- With the graduation of 1,435 students this academic year, the University of Guantánamo has now graduated, 825 professionals trained in various specialties and study modalities, contributing to the socioeconomic development of this province and Cuba in general.
This achievement was recognized during the 46th graduation ceremony of the so-called House of Science and Progress, which is distinguished by the awarding of 231 Gold Diplomas, conferred upon those who obtain an average grade above 4.75 points in their studies, and 64 students recognized with Scientific Merit, results that demonstrate the academic rigor of this institution.
PhD. Osiris Aranda Creagh, Rector of the University of Guantánamo, highlighted and recognized the work and efforts of students, professors, and social actors who contributed to this new graduating class, despite the difficult economic context of the country.
This graduation ceremony was unique in that it awarded degrees to students from Guantánamo who graduated from the Universities of Oriente, Granma, and Computer Science in Havana, reflecting the close ties between institutions of higher education in Cuba.
The ceremony honored the best graduates in both daytime and evening programs in Teaching, Research, Culture, Sports, and University Extension, recognizing their achievements that demonstrate the commitment to developing well-rounded professionals.
Yoel Pérez García, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in the easternmost province, presented the diploma to the most outstanding graduate, Yinnoy Vicet Mancebo, from the University of Guantánamo, a particularly moving moment that he also shared with the other top graduates.
Dedicated to the Centennial of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the anniversary of the attacks on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks, and the 50th anniversary of Higher Education in the country, the University of Guantánamo celebrated its 46th graduation ceremony with the prospect of continuing the rise of this institution of higher learning, recognized nationally for the quality of its doctoral programs and other achievements.
