More than one hundred professionals received their master’s and specialist diplomas, during the celebration of the fifth graduation for this postgraduate training of the University of Guantanamo (UG), which took place in the theater of the Raúl Gómez García headquarters of the also well-known as House of Science and Progress.

Of the 138 graduates, whose traning began in times of the COVID-19 pandemic, 76 were graduated as master’s degree and 62 as specialists, who together with their tutors, family members and university workers, shared public recognition for a new phase of personal and professional growth achieved.

Dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the assaults on the Moncada barracks, in Santiago de Cuba and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, in Bayamo, this new graduation offered the graduates the basic tools for the development of their work, which will allow them to deepen theoretically and conceptually in the area of science, arts and technology in the field of knowledge.

On this occasion, eight professionals obtained their master’s degrees in in Accounting, three in Forest Sciences, 16 in Sustainable Agricultural Production, 25 in Educational Sciences, 19 in Didactics of Spanish and Literature and four in Management.

Meanwhile, the rest of professionals graduated in the category of specialists: 29 in Inclusive Care for Education and Language Disorders, 23 in Pedagogical Teaching and 10 in Plant Health. Graduates are mainly concentrated in agencies of the Ministries of Agriculture, Education and Public Health.

During the graduation ceremony, the delegation of the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment in the province presented a Recognition to the University of Guantanamo for its contribution to the scientific development of the territory, which was received by Osiris Aranda Creagh, Rector of Sciences from the UG.

Aranda Creagh congratulated the graduates and thanked the representatives of the organizations, members of the Board of Directors and coordinators of the Master’s Degree and the Specialties programs for this fifth graduation, at a time when the country is committed to a government management based on the science and innovation, and the increase in results based on economic, political and social development, she said.

She said that with more than 800 Guantanamo professionals graduated from different sectors, academic training based on the needs of the easternmost territory of the country is a challenge for the UG, which works to promote programs of excellence in the various areas of knowledge.

The UG rector specified that currently the institution has a consolidated quality of the postgraduate system programme, with doctoral, master and specialist graduates, who became professionals prepared to strengthen their contexts in the province, the country and the world.
