The Provincial Vocecitas de Cristal Children’s Music Contest, which seeks to encourage compositions for children and enhance the participation of little ones, will be held in Guantanamo from April 18 to 20 in theGuaso and Guiñol theaters.

The event, created in 1989 at the initiative of teacher Antonia Luisa Cabal, provides for the presentation of children’s songs by different composers (local, provincial and national) and will award three performance prizes to children from six to nine years old and three others, from 10 to 15.

The winners will receive, in addition to diplomas and traditional gifts, promotion to national competitions and their performances will be screened on the media. They will make art presentations in institutions such as hospitals, homes for children without family protection and day care centers, as well as visits to communities and municipalities.

The 24th issue of the Contest is dedicated this year to the centenary of teacher Antonia Luisa Cabal, to the 63rd anniversary of Girón Beach´s Victory, to the 20 years of the José Martí Art Instructors Brigade, as well as to composer Emer Hernández Matos.

The Vocecitas de Cristal provincial children’s music contest this year will only be competitive in children’s performance, with the composition section pending.
