Guantanamo.- The timing of water supply cycles, electricity generation, and the epidemiological situation in the region were among the issues evaluated during the vitality meeting held on Monday, April 27th. This working meeting was led by the main political and governmental authorities of Guantánamo province.
Water supply to the northern part of the provincial capital, specifically to the Pastorita People’s Council, was reported as one of the problems associated with this service. The town of Boquerón, in the municipality of Caimanera, and the municipalities of Imías, and Baracoa were also affected, the latter due to a break in the main pipeline, directly impacting the water supply to its residents.
Furthermore, engineer Edel Aldana Villar, Technical Director of the Electric Company, reported that the province reports today a 30 MWh power outage, and that seven neighborhoods were without electricity due to breakdowns, one of them in the municipality of Baracoa due to a damaged transformer in the community of Maguana.
He also reported that, to date, a total of 103 photovoltaic panels have been installed in the institutional system in Guantánamo Province.
Waste collection and urban cleanup in Guantánamo were also a focus of the meeting, which emphasized the importance of intensifying efforts to control the proliferation of the dengue vector, whose serotypes 3 and 4 are currently circulating in the territory, reported Dr. Rafael Wilson Pérez, Provincial Director of Health in Guantánamo.
