Guantanamo.- The San Antonio del Sur Agricultural Enterprise is enhancing the production of root vegetables, greens, and grains as the nation’s agricultural sector undergoes significant transformations aimed at bolstering food supplies for its citizens.
Guillermo Gude Gamboa, the director of the sector, announced that preparations are underway for the winter planting season, which will include tomatoes, beans, sunflowers, and sesame seeds for oil extraction—crops that have already shown promising results.
He noted that agricultural fairs, typically held on Fridays in the main square, have been relocated to smaller plazas due to fuel shortages affecting product transportation. Nevertheless, the community benefits on Saturdays when trucks heading to the Guantanamo City fair facilitate access to these goods.
Gude Gamboa emphasized that despite these challenges, the Agro-industrial Enterprise remains dedicated to implementing economic changes in this vital sector, recognizing the broader implications for society amid the current national difficulties.
