Guantanamo.- Amid the tightening of the blockade and ongoing fuel shortages, the leadership of the El Salvador Municipal Assembly of People’s Power held the Twentieth Ordinary Session of its Eighteenth Term in the Limonar and Bayate People’s Councils, located in the heart of the Plan Turquino Program region.

During the session, local delegates engaged in a critical and thoughtful discussion of a report presented by the Commission on Culture, Education, and Science concerning preparations for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year.

One of the main concerns addressed was the situation at the Juan Manuel Ameijeiras Delgado Combined School in Bayate. Several parents from the San Fernando People’s Council have not yet enrolled their children. The school’s principal, Yoidel Anache, described the efforts made by teachers in cooperation with the community, while acknowledging that enrollment remains incomplete.

In Limonar, People’s Council president Arnoldo García stressed the urgent need to waterproof the roof of the Asdrúbal López School. This long-standing request remains unresolved, disrupting classes whenever it rains.

Community leaders also analyzed the implementation of the 76 economic and social measures approved nationwide. Mayor Yaritza Omaña Puente presented a report on the work of new economic actors, as well as the opening of neighborhood and farmers’ markets.

The Twentieth Ordinary Session of the El Salvador Municipal Assembly of People’s Power concluded with a firm commitment to advancing the municipality’s development despite the limitations it faces.
