Guantanamo.- This week, a significant working visit took place at Alejandro de Humboldt National Park, led by the management team of the Ecoadap International Project. Key participants included MSc. Yanet Forneiro, the project coordinator; Dr. C. Nicasio Viña Dávila, secretary of the Caribbean Biological Corridor; and Dr. C. Freddy Rodríguez Santana, the project’s representative in Cuba.
The visit also included the participation of executives from the Environmental and Technological Services Center of Guantánamo (CESAT), along with specialists and staff from the Baracoa Conservation Department.
The primary focus of the visit was to assess the project’s intervention areas, evaluating the effectiveness of implemented actions and the results achieved thus far.
This collaborative effort is imporant for advancing the conservation of the park’s ecosystem, as it promotes sustainable practices and strengthens strategies for climate change adaptation.
The stakeholders engaged in this initiative are committed to ensuring the long-term health and resilience of the region’s biodiversity.
The Ecoadap project is part of the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) and is co-financed by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) of the German Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection, through KfW.
This partnership underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing environmental challenges and fostering sustainable development in vulnerable ecosystems.
