Guantanamo.- The 48th Regino Eladio Boti Contest on Literature and Visual Arts is set to occur in Guantánamo from June 17 to 20, aiming to enhance the appreciation of Boti’s contributions to Cuban literature and local culture.
This year’s event is organized by the Provincial Center for Books and Literature alongside the Provincial Council of Visual Arts, and it commemorates the centennials of Fidel Castro’s birth and the release of Boti’s notable work, *The Tower of Silence*.
The program of activities will feature a diverse program that includes book launches, theoretical discussions, poetry readings, exhibitions, and audiovisual presentations, all designed to foster dialogue on contemporary artistic practices.
Noteworthy events include the unveiling of the “Fidel Among Us” exhibition and discussions centered on Cuba’s cultural and historical legacy, alongside tributes to prominent figures such as visual artist Oscar Nelson Álvarez and writer Mayelín Mansfarrol.
Recognized as a pivotal cultural event in Guantánamo, the Boti Conference serves as a platform for bridging traditional and modern artistic expressions, while underscoring the enduring significance of Boti’s ideas within the national cultural landscape.
