A group of cattle herders from Guantanamo tilled 16 hectares of land in the shortest time during a competitive match for this activity held at the Basic Production Unit Alfonso Escalante Sugarcane Cooperative of the Costa Rica community, located in the El Salvador Municipality.

The farmer Luis Manuel Benavides Semanat  won in the competition that promoted the use of animal traction and the optimization of available resources, as part of the measures adopted in the territory to produce food in the midst of the difficult energy situation caused by the intensification of the blockade of the United States government, which hinders the arrival of fuel to Cuba.

The main actions for saving are applied in planting in the cold season, which is very important for planting sugarcane and maintaining the vitality of the economy.
