Guantanamo.- The admissions process for the Journalism program at the University of Oriente, located in Santiago de Cuba Province, will commence in Guantánamo Province with the entrance exam scheduled for Thursday, May 21. This examination is specifically aimed at students in the eleventh and twelfth grades, as reported by Taimí Fernández Pérez, the provincial president of the Union of Journalists of Cuba.

According to Fernández Pérez, the entrance exams will be conducted simultaneously across the country and will be open to twelfth-grade students interested in pursuing the Journalism program. One of the unique admission requirements for this program is the completion of one year of active military service prior to university enrollment.

Furthermore, eleventh-grade students who aspire to attend the University College of Journalism for the 2026-2027 academic year are eligible to participate in the entrance exams. Academic prerequisites for applicants include achieving a grade out of 90 on Spanish, Cuban History, and Political Culture, as well as maintaining a general grade average exceeding 85 points.
