Guantanamo.- The installation of electric vehicle charging stations and the illumination of major avenues are among the projects currently being developed by the Electric Company to advance the energy matrix transformation in Guantánamo. Ignacio Cuscó Bazzi, coordinator of programs and government objectives at the Provincial Government, confirmed these initiatives.
The process of lighting enhancements and the establishment of electric charging centers involves the use of photovoltaic panels, aligning with the country’s priorities to promote renewable energy utilization.
Cuscó Bazzi explained that these centers will provide charging services for motorized tricycles and electric motorcycles, while also supporting the setup of television areas.
As part of the investments undertaken by the Basic Electrical Organization, luminaires have been installed in areas such as Camilo Cienfuegos Avenue, from Carlos Manuel Street to Ahogados Street, with plans to extend this installation up to 9 Oeste (9th West).
Additionally, lighting installations are expected at the entrance of Caimanera Municipality. Depending on the availability of these technologies, the expansion of charging centers and streelight installations will continue throughout the Alto Oriente region.
The solar panel and artificial lighting technologies, predominantly sourced from China, play a critical role in advancing the national energy matrix transformation by facilitating the shift towards renewable energy sources.
