Guantanamo.- During the vitality meeting held on Tuesday, April 14, led by the main political and governmental authorities of Guantánamo province, the impacts on electricity generation, water supply, and solid waste collection services in the territory were evaluated.
The top authorities analyzed disruptions to the water supply in the southern and northern areas of Guantánamo city. They were reported about the process of installing motors to guarantee water pumping in the municipalities of Niceto Pérez, Manuel Tames, and Caimanera was underway, specifically in the town of Cayamo, where work is still ongoing.
Engineer Edel Aldana Villar, Technical Director of the Electric Company, stated that the province today has a 53 MWh shortfall due to the power outages of the previous day of Unit #4 at the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric Plant, which resulted in a larger deficit that day. He also reported damage to a transformer in the community of Yumurí, in the municipality of Baracoa.
The local authorities of government and party also discussed on key issues on solid waste collection and urban cleanup in Guantánamo City, the cash deposit process at bank branches in the province, pension payments, and the state of internet connectivity. They also highlighted collaborative work of the cultural and sports sectors in developing a joint program of activities in neighborhoods and communities throughout the province.
