Guantánamo – The city of Guantánamo will once again become the capital of the call for world solidarity with the VIII International Seminar for Peace and the Abolition of Foreign Military Bases, scheduled for May 4th to 5th

Sponsored by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), the event is held biannually in the easternmost of Cuba’s provinces, where a Yankee military base has been located for more than 120 years against the people’s will

From this enclave, dozens of provocations have taken place, including the murder of fishermen and young Cuban soldiers, and it has also become a detention and torture center.

The Seminar will bring together 80 participants from 25 countries; academics, union leaders and pacifists who will once again advocate the closure of  more than 800 foreign military bases scattered in all regions of the planet, the end of Israel’s genocide against  Palestine people, the end of the criminal U.S. economic and financial blockade on the island, as well as its removal from the list of countries sponsoring terrorism.
