Another 762 health professionals, who will provide service to the province’s healthcares, are graduated from the Guantanamo University of Medical Sciences, which is holding on Friday and Sunday, two ceremony graduations dedicated to the 41st anniversary of the creation of the Carlos J. Finlay Detachment.

The graduates will receive their respective degrees in two ceremonies: the first this Friday at the Baracoa Cinema-theater, and the second next Sunday the 28th, at 6:00 a.m., in the Pedro Agustín Pérez Plaza, in Guantanamo.

Of the total number of graduates, 610 will be Doctors of Medicine, of which one comes from the island of Santa Lucía and completed his studies at the Latin American School of Medicine thanks to the thought and political will of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro, architect of this program to educate free of charge to humble young people from Latin America, Africa and other countries.

Yolanda Correoso, general secretary of the medical university, specified that 14 stomatologists will also graduate, seven in Nursing, 23 in Information Systems, 8 in Rehabilitation, the same number in Hygiene and Epidemiology, six in Imaging and Medical Radiophysics, and one Clinical bioanalysis.

85 graduates from higher technical training programs will also collect their diplomas, of which 69 are in Nursing, six in Occupational Therapy, five in Stomatological Prosthetics, two in Pharmaceutical Services, and one in Hygiene and Epidemiology, Social Work and Surveillance, and Anti-vector Fight.

Odalis Marrero Columbié, director of Educational Work and University Extension, stated that 70 graduates with honor degrees will be recognized, 11 deserving of the Scientific Merit Award status, as well as the best graduates who make up the Mario Muñoz Monroy Movement and the most comprehensive for spheres and careers.

She also pointed out that the ceremonies will be dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, to the 101st anniversary of the constitution of the University Student Federation, to Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, the historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, and to the National Hero, José Martí, the most universal of all Cubans, on the occasion of his 171st birth anniversary.
