Guantanamo.- With the objective of organizing the mobilization and preparation of personnel for the fulfillment of the missions assigned to the defense of the Cuban Revolution, begin the Exercise «University Student Bastion 2024» is carried out today at the University of Guantánamo and at the Asdrúbal López Provincial School of Economics, located in the capital city.
The Bastion is dedicated to the Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, on the occasion of the 8th anniversary of the physical disappearance, the 68th anniversary of the landing of the Granma yatch, the transcendental speech delivered by the leader of the Cuban Revolution in the Aula Magna of the University of Havana 19 years ago and the 45th Anniversary of the University of Guantánamo.
Message from Dr. C. Walter Baluja García, Minister of Higher Education, to young university students and calls on them to participate in the military-patriotic drill exercise of the University Students Bastion in order to prepare themselves with courage to defend Cuba and its Revolution.
YOUNG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS
Today, January 21, we begin the Exercise «University Student Bastion 2024» that is carried out with the objective of preparing and ratifying the strength of young university students as a ready reserve of the different structures of the defense of the Revolution.
As Article 4 of the Magna Carta states: “The defense of the socialist homeland is the greatest honor and the supreme duty of every Cuban.” You go to each of the centers and places of preparation with enthusiasm and commitment, making this principle yours together with the people of Cuba.
In each of the stages of the Revolution, young university students have been face to face with all the challenges and dangers to maintain the sovereignty, independence and integrity of the nation. On this occasion we do so once again.
For this reason we call upon you to participate with discipline and organization to guarantee the full readiness for the defense.
Let us ratify on this day the words of our Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz when he expressed:
“As long as imperialism exists, the party, the state and the people will pay maximum attention to the defense services.” The revolutionary guard will never be careless. History teaches us with too much eloquence that those who forget this principle do not survive the error».
