Guantanamo new elderly homeFour new facilities that were completely repaired to operate as family doctor’s offices are included in a group social works reopened by the highest political and governmental authorities of the Guantanamo municipality.

Dr. Leyanis Nápoles Reyna, deputy director of Medical Assistance and Social Work at the Municipal Health Directorate, reported that one of the new doctor’s offices is located in the Pedro Agustín Pérez Street, between Mármol and Varona, which had been closed for more than a year decade due to structural and construction problems.

The rest of the facilities are located in the community of Montesano, one of the 126 areas identified in conditions of vulnerability by the authorities of the eastern territory, and in the Center-West and San Justo Neighborhoods, where an Elderly House was also refurbished with 25 capacities.

This  is a day elderly home  of 17 that work in the province to accommodate a segment of the population whose age is over 60, which represents 19.4 percent of the total inhabitants.

There the grandmothers and grandfathers receive different medical care as dentistry, monitoring of their underlying diseases and rehabilitation, as well as a balanced diet that includes breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner before leaving for their respective homes.

The set of constructive actions, valued at close to one million Cuban pesos, included the replacement of plumbing and electrical networks, painting, conditioning of rooms, removal of architectural barriers and a better adaptation of services to the needs of the population.][/bg_collapse]
