Guantanamo.- A total of 15 professionals from Guantánamo were awarded Doctor of Science degrees during the third graduation ceremony of the University of Guantánamo’s degree programs. The graduates specialized in Educational Sciences and Agricultural Sciences, with several serving as professors at the university.

Their academic journey began in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting their commitment to education and research.

Dr. Martha Álvarez Ravelo, representing the graduates, underscored the significance of science in Guantánamo, describing the degree as a motivating achievement that represents years of dedication to teaching. T

he ceremony also acknowledged the contributions of the coordinators of the doctoral programs in Educational Sciences and Perennial Crops, as well as the President of the Scientific Degree Committee, for their roles in facilitating the doctoral training process.

Osiris Aranda Creagh, the rector of the House of Science and Progress, extended her congratulations to the new Doctors of Science, including Adonis Guibo Silva, Manuel Conrado Riera Nelson, and Leonardo Suceta Sulueta.

Among the graduates, Jesús Martín Pérez, a delegate from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), conducted research on agroecological education for mountain ecosystems, which is part of the Connecting Landscapes project aimed at integrating agroecological practices into production systems.
