Guantanamo celebrates 30th anniversary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and EnvironmentIn the midst of a triple environmental crisis due to climate change, biodiversity loss and pollution, it is essential to mitigate the negative effects currently evident in Cuba’s environment and specifically at the local level, a task that motivates the efforts and ingenuity of science workers in Guantanamo to achieve greater adaptation to this global phenomenon and reduce the impact generated by socioeconomic activities.

This was recognized during the commemorative ceremony for the 30th anniversary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (CITMA), held at the local delegation, where the results of research, the development of inventions, the transfer of innovative techniques and actions to preserve ecosystems were highlighted.

At the event, the Mountain Development Center was honored for its contributions during its 3 decades of work and the Information and Technological Management Center (CIGET) in Guantanamo for its contributions to the growth of the Cuban Encyclopedia Ecured, both nationally recognized institutions.

During the ceremony for the 30th anniversary of CITMA, outstanding workers were also recognized for their permanence within the sector with significant contributions to scientific work in Guantánamo, whose activity today becomes one  of the country’s development pillars
